Dates

One of the first things you and your Fiance will need to discuss is when you want to get married. If he doesn’t care and is leaving everything up to you then think about when you want to walk down that aisle. Of course, there will be times throughout the year when venues will be fully booked due to it being peak wedding season. This is typically from the months of may through to october. If you are happy working either side of these months then you could have more luck with venues and destinations.

Venue

Once you have figured out your dates then you need to find your dream venue. You may already know where you want to get married, it is just about speaking to them and finding out when they have availability. However, if you have no idea on the best venues to walk down the aisle then you might have to do some research. Weddings abroad are another option if you don’t want to get married in your home country. Beach weddings are a popular one, especially in majestic countries. Once you find the venue, speak to them about getting booked in on your chosen dates.

Invites

So you have found your favorite venue and finalized your dates, now it’s time to send out the invites. You need to give your guests some notice so get the invites out as soon as you know the details yourself. If you are getting married during the week then your guests may need to book time off work in order to attend. Bear in mind weekend weddings are more expensive than weekday weddings, so if your guests don’t mind and you don’t mind then consider a weekday.

Ring Shopping

If you have the most amazing engagement ring then you will want a wedding ring to match. Some people will wear both together and they have bridal sets where you can purchase both together. However, if you want something that nobody else has then you can get your rings custom made. You could even get matching rings which would be cute, you could get diamonds set into them as well. If you aren’t too bothered about having what others have then head to your local high street jewelers to shop around and see what they have.

Say Yes To The Dress

Now it's time to go dress shopping, so grab your closest girlfriends and hit the shops. If you book into a few dress shops, don’t just head to one and hope to find your dream dress there. Also, don’t be disheartened if you don’t find it the first time around. This is the one dress you need to fall in love with and that can take some time. One thing you could do is make a weekend trip out of wedding dress shopping, head to New York perhaps and see if they have anything there. Don’t worry if you don’t have any idea of what you want your dress to look like, that is why the assistants are there to help you. You may already know what you want but once you try on another style then you could change your mind.

Parties

Before your wedding, you could have planned one last night of freedom. Hen nights and stag do’s are a tradition associated with weddings all over the world. If you don’t want to have separate parties then you could have one together. Incorporate both and invite all your closest friends and family members. However, if you do want to have his and her parties then you will need someone special to arrange these for you. Traditionally, the best man will sort out the stag do while the maid of honor will arrange the hen do. If you are worried about what sort of things your friends will have you doing then give them pre warnings about what you don’t want.

Photographers

If you are wanting to capture your wedding day so you can look back on it then you will need to hire photographers or videographers. There will be plenty around and they will be different prices so consider which ones fit into your budget. There are plenty of things to think about when it comes to photographers, how long you want them for and what parts of your wedding you want to be photographed. If you want something out of the ordinary then how about you look into wedding photojournalism and get a documentary of your wedding. This will tell you the story of the day and capture the good, bad, and ugly of your wedding day.

Catering

How are you going to feed your guests after your wedding? This is another part of your wedding that comes with many choices. You could have a fancy sit down meal with three courses, alternatively you could offer a finger buffet where your guests can help themselves. You can either do this yourself or speak with the venue about what they offer in terms of catering. Some venues will have a kitchen on site where they can cook and serve you and your wedding guests. Others may bring caterers and food on site to serve.

Cake

There is nothing quite as spectacular as seeing your wedding cake on your big day. It can seem like a never ending chore trying to find and agree on the type of cake you want. It isn’t just about the flavors, it is also about the style you want. Whether you want the traditional tiered wedding cake or something a little different, it is entirely up to you. Make sure you are looking at reviews of cake providers before you part with any money. A good wedding cake baker will invite you in to try some of their flavors before taking your money and booking you in. There are many ideas online if you are stuck for inspiration.

Honeymoon

Where are you going on your honeymoon? This is something that you may have been thinking about for quite some time. It is the final part of your wedding where you get to sit back, relax, and spend quality time with your new spouse. Your honeymoon is a special destination that is far more than just a two week holiday, it could even be longer if you want it to be. There is no rule that says where you need to go or what you need to do. If you want to travel around America or another country for three or four months then that is what you can do. Alternatively, if you want to relax on a Caribbean beach then that is a great option as well.
